Frontal Lobotomy

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Oh – Almost forgot, my bus is probably having it’s lobotomy today. It gets an elevating roof courtesy of Concept Multi Car in Kent.

I should get to pick it up on Saturday – I am getting a little excited :-)

Ok, this year has been kind of busy…

  • June, we got married (wooohoooo!)
  • The Honeymoon followed shortly afterwards…
  • Return to reality and work
  • Finish the shed (I now have somewhere when Trish banishes me!)
  • Start decorating the upstairs bedroom (its not finished)
  • Buy a new Rebreather (cool)
  • Get qualified on said rebreather
  • lots of other stuff…

On Saturday I inadvertantly put on radio 2 while in the car, and listened to “A windmill in old Amsterdam” Unfortunately the chorus is very catchy

“I saw a mouse
Where?
There on the stair.
Where on the stair
Right there
A little mouse with clogs on
welll I declare.”
going clip clippity clop on the stair”

I was singing it in the shower this morning (much to Trish’s annoyance) I was so distracted, I put shaving Gel on top of my head instead of on my face….Still my hair smelt nice all day.

Oh! I got a new vehicle (notice I didn’t say car!) more about that later

I bought Trish an off-road driving day for her Birthday. The booked day finally arrived and so off we went to a Quarry in Glos, to do a course run by Whitecliff4x4.

Now when we got there, they had a cancellation, so after some gentle persuasion they managed to get me to take the spare place instead of just watch!

The course was really good, they showed us how to handle the vehicles (a Discovery and a Landrover90) and how NOT to do it. This photo shows Trish on one of the steeper descents.

We both really enjoyed it, and somehow I managed to take 170 photos!

Waterproof cup holder – how handy…

Friday, June 9th, 2006

Trish left a cup from KFC in the cupholder in the Honda “barge” the other day, come monday morning I got in the car and noticed something odd, 2 inches of Sprite in the cupholder…

The cup had split down the seam, I guess it could have been the heat causing it. The phone charger which was also in the cupholder looked a goner, as it had been immersed in Sprite for probably 2 days

After cleaning up the slightly sticky mess, I was thinking It is really good of Honda to make a water-tight cup holder, OK, they can’t fix the rattle from the doors when you play the stereo (even quietly) and they can’t fix the other rattle from the tailgate AFTER 2 YEARS but hey – the cupholder doesnt leak :-)

The car actually went back to Honda on day 2 of ownership because of said rattle!

Mind you, The 10 car charger still works! I left it on the floor of the car for a couple of days then tried it when my phone battery was flat, works a treat.

OK OK OK I Know it’s a Diesel!

Monday, April 3rd, 2006

I was tired, it was late on a Friday and I had a blinding headache, but at least I didn’t fill the tank. I just put 15 worth of unleaded in my Diesel Honda Accord.

Luckily I noticed as I was finishing up putting in the fuel so I didnt drive, start or even turn the ignition on. The AA man was very polite, and so was the man at the garage as he relieved me of 140+VAT for the pleasure of emptying the tank and making sure everything was OK.

The thing is that news travels fast, I have a friend on a different continent who knew about it before I got home! As I had one of my colleagues from work in the car, he told everyone else (after he stopped laughing) and Trish even told my brother (she thought he needed cheering up!)

So to all my friends thankyou…

Interesting parking method observed yeasterday in Windsor.

Reverse car till it hits the parked Volvo behind.
Go forward – turning wheel slightly.
Reverse till stopped again by same cars front bumper.
Repeat as necessary.
Drive away.

I guess it beats having to look behind you…
