Well I killed another one last week. There i was trimming the hedge when there was a blue flash of light, a Pssssht! and a dead hedgetrimmer.
Yes, I cut through another hedgetrimmer cable. When i mentioned to Trish it might be time to go for a petrol hedgetrimmer I think she went to check my life insurance.
Most people know that me and DIY dont really mix, I would rather get someone in who knows what they are doing.
However, flush with my recent success (no loss of important limbs) with a chainsaw, i thought a bit of hedgetrimming would be a good idea. Equipped with my mega-expensive (18) hedgetrimmmer I proceded to do battle with the hedges out front.
2 minutes later I am thinking “Bugger – I’ve broken it”, it just suddenly stopped working.. Another 2 mins of trying to figure out why, and I realise I am no longer attached to the rest of the cable!
I had managed to slice staight through it WITHOUT electrocuting myself. The thing is, the house RCD did not trip, and errrrrr – I had forgotten to put an rcd on the extension lead.
As I do not believe in a supreme being (and even if I did, he would have better things to do that make sure I did not kill myself with various electrical appliances) then I guess it is just dumb luck I am still here, but I am….
Chainsaws are sooo much fun, I now have a big bundle of firewood ready for our summer party.
The scabby apple tree is no more, and I still have all my limbs intact.
I just hope the Bracknell Forest Borough Council “Tree Police” don’t come and get me! They have to be the biggest bunch of gits I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.
