Blimey – Has it really been that long?

February 12th, 2012

Yup – guess so, still here but very busy!

little by little

October 3rd, 2011

Well the summer seems to have gone out with a bang. Who would have guessed. We started it on the Beach with Aprils Bank Holiday, and ended it on the beach with a weekend in West Wittering in October. Shame most of what was in the middle was rubbish…

However the title of the post has nothing to do with the weather, but my faith in Human nature is being chipped away little by little. We were sat outside the campervan and a lady asked if she could borrow a couple of cups as they had forgotten to bring theirs, so we lent her two. I think she misunderstood the concept of lend as it was the last we ever saw of those cups (and we were there about 5 hours after she borrowed them).

Its not the cups but the fact she obviously thought she didn’t need to return them.

So – beware of strangers asking to borrow cups!

It’ s a shame as I don’t like to be mistrusting of others

Phew…

Things have been kind of busy over the last couple of months, including Emmas Birthday, a trip to France (see ourpix) and the summer looks like it is more of the same! Lets just hope the weather holds out!

Road Rage – Not restricted to men…

March 20th, 2011

Gardening out the front of the house the other day, there was a lot of a commotion and revving going on. I look up and an old toyota with a silver haired lady driving, mounted the pavement outside the house and drove along the pavement because she wouldnt wait for the other car to get out of the way.

As she drove past me I saw her mouth the words “F***ing people” and speed off. As she got to the bottom of the road she honked someone else who didnt get out of the way quick enough and swerved round them…

She must have been 70.

Bereft!

Oh Dear!

The local Chinese takeaway, our refuge in MSG from the weeks trials has changed hands. We have been going there since we lived in Trindledown (so at least 8 years). The lady who ran it retired to Hong Kong, but this leaves us with a dilemma, as the food is now not a patch on what it always has been.

I don’t handle change well…

Yesterday didnt start so good, finished well!

February 6th, 2011

Yesterday was a little stressful. Daughter No1 whinged all the way into town. so i stomped all the way home with her – she also whinged for ages after we got home…

HOWEVER…

Then I went and shot 449 at the indoor archery shoot, (yeah i know – not great but my pb so far) mmm not such a bad day…

One the way home I was geting a takeout (See i said it got better…)

Got the lady in Co-op to check my old lottery tickets and one came up with a £50 win!

So a good score – a takeout and a small lottery win – it could have been worse…

Today Emma actually behaved herself round town, but I didnt win the lottery again.

Bumper stickers

January 26th, 2011

Now that all the schools are back, one thing strikes me as odd.

I can understand stickers on cars for some things, they might show support for a particular charity or football team. I have a couple of VW club ones on the bus, but why would anyone really want a sticker of the public school their kid goes to on their car?

Is it a status symbol? maybe they are worried that the neighbours might think their kids go to (god forbid) a state school.

Maybe it is so that the latest Au-Pair doesnt forget where she is going (the kids in the Range Rover go to St Georges – those in the X5 go to Marist Convent).

Its been a busy week…

December 19th, 2010

After finding out my slow puncture was actually a cracked rim, necessitating more expenditure, the central heating packed up this evening. It was shaping up to be a pretty expensive Christmas (even more so than we were expecting!)

Luckily 4 kettles of water poured over the condensate pipe out of the boiler proved that the boiler wouldn’t need expensive repairs! The pipe had frozen, blocking the pipe shutting the boiler down.

I did manage to get the repaired rims back on the bus yesterday, while it was snowing. Over an inch and a half of snow fell while I was putting the wheels back on (I had swapped them out for the old steel rims) It took a little while to thaw out…
